Patient films about the living world.

WildPlanet Films is a new, independent natural history company based in Kington, on the border of England and Wales. We produce and commission documentaries for broadcasters, license wildlife footage from camera operators around the world, and hire out the kit it takes to shoot it.

Productions

We develop, produce and commission natural history films for broadcasters. Our approach is simple: spend the time in the field that the animals deserve, work with people who know their subject, and finish every film to the standard the commissioner expects on delivery day.

Series

Multi-part natural history series built around a place, a group of species or a single big idea, planned across seasons and locations.

Single documentaries

One-off films that follow a story closely, from animal behaviour and conservation to the scientists and communities working alongside wildlife.

Short-form

Shorter pieces for digital platforms, broadcaster online channels and companion content that sits alongside a longer series.

How a commission runs

  1. Development

We shape the idea with you, research the science and locations, and agree the story, format and budget.

  2. Planning and permits

Specialist crew, filming permissions, access agreements, animal welfare plans and risk assessments, all in place before anyone travels.

  3. Filming

Field crews work patiently and with minimal disturbance, with footage backed up and logged as it comes in.

  4. Post-production and delivery

Edit, grade, sound design, music and mix, delivered to your technical specification with full paperwork.

Stock footage

We license high-quality wildlife and nature footage to productions, and we buy it from filmmakers around the world. Our library is growing through new acquisitions, and if the shot you need isn't with us yet, we'll go and find it.

Licensing footage

  1. Tell us what you need. Species, behaviour, location, season, resolution and how many seconds you're likely to use.
  2. Review previews. We send watermarked, timecoded previews so you can make your selects.
  3. Agree the licence. Every licence is scoped to your production: media, territory and term, so you only pay for the rights you need.
  4. Receive the masters. Original camera files or a mezzanine format of your choice, delivered with metadata and clip information.
Request footage

Sell your footage to us

We buy wildlife and nature footage from camera operators, scientists and expedition teams worldwide. What we look for:

  • Wild animals and natural behaviour, sharply filmed and well exposed
  • Accurate species, location and date information
  • Original camera files at full resolution
  • Clear ownership, plus permits and releases where needed

Send us a link to your selects or showreel with a short note about where and how it was filmed. We'll reply with an offer or let you know it isn't the right fit.

Offer us your footage

We only acquire and license footage that is honestly labelled. Captive or controlled sequences are identified as such, and we won't take material where animals were harmed, baited in a harmful way or harassed to get the shot.

Camera hire

We hire out cinematography equipment chosen for wildlife and documentary work, to production houses in the UK and around the world. Tell us your dates and shooting conditions and we'll confirm what's available.

Cinema cameras
Large-sensor and super 35 bodies recording high-resolution and RAW formats, ready for broadcast deliverables.
Long lenses
Telephoto and zoom glass for filming shy animals from a respectful distance, with matching support.
Macro and specialist optics
Macro and probe lenses for insects, plants and the small details that carry a sequence.
Support and stabilisation
Heavy-duty tripods with fluid heads, sliders and stabilised systems for vehicles and moving shots.
Remote and low-light
Camera traps and low-light equipment for nocturnal behaviour and locations where a crew can't stay.
Power, media and monitoring
Batteries, recording media, field monitors and the accessories that keep a remote shoot running.

Dry hire

Equipment is hired without an operator. Every item is checked, cleaned and tested before it goes out.

UK and international

Collect from us, or we'll arrange shipping and the paperwork for productions working abroad.

Hire terms

All hires are covered by a written hire agreement. We ask for a deposit and proof of equipment insurance before dispatch.
